Institute of Process Engineering (IPE) CAS, hosted the 2015 CAS-TWAS Symposium on Green Technology for Sustainable Development (2015 Green Tech) from 23rd to 25th of July 2015. The symposium was co-organized by IPE and CAS-TWAS Center of Excellence for Green Technology (CEGT), and jointly supported by both CAS and TWAS. Prof. Suojiang Zhang, the director of IPE was in the chair.
The symposium focused on the latest research developments and technology innovations in the field of green technology for sustainable development. More than 200 academic researchers and postgraduate students from both developing countries (such as China, Pakistan, India, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Thailand, Nigeria, so on) and developed countries (USA, UK, Denmark, and Singapore) attended the meeting. Among them, 31 outstanding researchers in the field of green chemistry addressed the meeting and shared their findings and research interests. Topics ranging from the current status of green reaction media (ionic liquids and supercritical CO2), conversion of renewable energy, and advanced bio- and nanotechnology with their future prospects were thoroughly addressed.
As one of its main tasks, CEGT organizes symposium every year and invites distinguished scholars from different countries, sharing ideas and research work on green technology for sustainable development. The symposium provides a platform to promote academic communication, especially for young scholars, thus promoting talent cultivation and extending the horizon of science and technology over developing countries.
